CHUF’s mission is to support pioneering services that positively impact babies, children and young people who are born with or who develop heart conditions. The charity raises vital funds for equipment, aftercare, salaries and research that are simply beyond NHS capacity. They are there for heart families from the moment they require specialist care; providing services and facilities that inspire hope and allow Heart Heroes to reach their fullest potential.
The Children’s Heart Unit in Newcastle’s Freeman Hospital treats over 4,000 patients each year. It is one of only two children’s heart transplant units in the country and is the only unit capable of providing all the services that might be necessary for the most complex cases, meaning that patients come from all across the country and beyond! CHUF supports the Children’s Heart Unit, as well as 6 other regional hospitals across the North of England.
Graham’s Logs has chosen to support CHUF as we have a very personal connection to what they do. Our managing director and one of our drivers both have children with heart condition that required treatment at the Freeman Hospital; so we have first-hand experience of the difference this charity makes. CHUF helps bridge the gaps, providing the best equipment and services to help families when they need it most. Graham’s Logs is proud to have been able to provide donations that have recently allowed CHUF to purchase additional SATS monitors, so that families can take their babies home rather than remaining unnecessarily on the ward, safe in the knowledge that these machines will help early detection of any problems. We want to help spread the word about the fantastic facilities at the Heart Unit and to make more people aware of the charity that helps make life easier for Heart Heroes and their families. We have some exciting plans to raise funds and awareness for CHUF- watch this space!
